Back again to take the court or the streets by storm, the eighth model of the Air Jordan has retro basketball appeal and classic details for comfort and support. An original from the 1992-93 season, the Air Jordan VIII was worn by Jordan as the Bulls won their third NBA title and Jordan got his seventh straight scoring title. The legendary MJ scored his 20,000th point during the eason while wearing these coveted hoops shoes.
Featuring a full grain leather upper with perforations for ventilation, these sneakers offer the comfort you need to perform your best. Crossover leather/Velcro straps offer extra support, while the chenille Jumpman tongue patch adds iconic recognition. The Air Jordan 8 released in 1993 during Michael Jordan’s “Three-Peat” Championship season. Created by Tinker Hatfield, this is the last shoe that Jordan wore before his first retirement. The sneakers are supported by a solid upper, unique linear designs, an air sole, and iconic cross straps, also called “bunny ears.”
UPPER: Full grain leather
MIDSOLE: Air Sole units in the heel and forefoot
OUTSOLE: Rubber with traction pattern

Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan XV took inspiration from the rocket-powered X-15 hypersonic jet plane. The fastest jet ever created that could surpass speeds of 4,000 miles per hour and also reach altitudes bordering outer space, the X-15’s sleek and speedy design is recreated in the the silhouette of the XV, translated best in the all-black colorway. The Air Jordan XV was the first Jordan shoe to feature a woven upper, with Kevlar mesh material across the upper half of the shoe. The design of the XV is also hypothesized to be influenced by Prada footwear because of the red stripe (on the black colorway) running down the back of the shoe. There’s no official confirmation on the Prada inspiration, but Michael Jordan’s fondness for designer footwear makes it very possible. The last characteristic worth noting (and the part of the shoe many dislike the most) is the tongue that juts out towards the toe of the shoe, seemingly mimicking Michael’s signature tongue-out habit while playing. One of the bright spots for the Air Jordan XV was this awesome print ad with the now-iconic image of Jordan stunting all six of his championship rings. Count ‘em!
On the tech side of things, the most notable innovation on the Air Jordan XV is the woven kevlar mesh upper wrapping the top of the shoe. Woven material is a fairly common sight on sneakers today, but back in 2000 it was a pretty interesting new way to construct a shoe. The upper also consisted of a dynamic fit inner sleeve/bootie and a quick-lace system, while Zoom Air cushioned both the heel and forefoot and an external heel counter locked you in.
Michael Jordan was gone, but the Air Jordan XV still got some on-court time in the NBA with the newly formed Team Jordan members Ray Allen, Mike Bibby, and Michael Finley wearing them, along with friend to the program Reggie Miller also lacing up PE pairs. But there was no replacement for MJ, and the sales of the XV struggled regardless.

BEHIND THE DESIGN
He's got an endless list of accolades, but point guard Kyrie Irving is best known for unleashing ankle breakers and making it look easy. "We wanted to design a shoe that allows Kyrie to do whatever his imagination creates on the court," sr. product manager Tony Grosso says. The first step: improving the grip of the Kyrie 1-inspired sole. "There's traction up the sidewall, with a curved forefoot that helps create better court feel," Grosso explains
Grosso and his team also wanted to limit excess room inside the shoe to prevent slipping, allowing Kyrie to utilize his explosive first step without wasting energy. "We were really chasing after fit, which benefits Kyrie because the shoe will be much more responsive to his movements." The team took inspiration from the Kyrie 2 strap and created an internal support system made with Flywire—ultralight, super-strong fibers that act as support cables. Then they added a forefoot band to lock the foot down.
Kyrie's skills are highlighted when he uses his creativity to find a gap in the defense a split-second before it closes. "He plays so fast and his feet move at such a rapid rate," Grosso says, "it's almost like controlled speed." To represent the unorthodox way Kyrie sees the court, designers added textured spikes on the back half of the shoe. "There are no limitations to his game," Grosso says. And at 24 years old, Kyrie's only getting started.

Kai 1996 m. Atsakydamas į visus klausimus, „The Answer“ pravardę turintis krepšininkas, paneigė visas abejones ir pelnė Rookie of the Year titulą. Taip patvirtindamas Reebok kompanijos išreikštą pasitikėjimą, kuri Question kedus padarė vardiniais A.Iverson vos šis spėjo apšilti kojas NBA.
The Nike Air Bakin was originally released in 1997 and a has an unforgettable design. Once laced up by Tim Hardaway, they feature a black upper with red vented overlay, inner sleeve, rope laces, heel pull tab, and a visible Air Sole unit in the heel.
Almost two decades since its grand on-court arrival, the Air Foamposite Pro exists in a category of its own. But this is hardly a surprise. In 1997, the design was so ahead of its time that many players were intimidated by it. Its Posite construction resembled something out of a sci-fi movie. To hear designer Eric Avar describe it is to discover that it was the result of “pure experimentation.”
And, as its staying power demonstrates, the experiment paid off.
Today, the Air Foamposite One is heralded as an icon, on and away from the court. The latest iteration also brings with it the famed elephant print, known to sneakerheads around the world its deep connection to His Airness. A pink hue energizes an otherwise neutral colorblocking, providing a new-age touch to the storied silhouette. The Air Foamposite One is composed of a seamless liquid Foam mold, a Zoom Air unit, and a carbon-fiber midfoot plate.
The Air Jordan 11 are loved by many sneaker enthusiasts and are always a sell out. Michael Jordan was now back in the NBA, and the Air Jordan XI was his shoe for the 1995-1996 season. But before Michael Jordan wore the model, Tinker had to design them.
Tinker Hatfield thought that Nike should pull out all the stops and make a shoe out of materials that had never been used in a basketball shoe. At first, Tinker was thinking of using some high-end nylons, but good thing he changed his mind. Tinker wanted the Air Jordan 11 to look like a convertible, with a shiny body, so that is why the Air Jordan XI had patent leather.
Not only was it the patent leather on the Air Jordan XI made them special, but the addition of a lightweight Phylon midsole with a full-length Air-Sole unit and full-length carbon fiber plate, as well as being supportive. But sadly, there were some defects in them.
Air Jordan XI History
For the look of the shoe itself, Tinker was (like always) thinking of some inspirations. If you’re an artist, then anything can inspire you, so when Tinker saw a yellow lawn mower you wonder how he fit that into the Jordan 11. According to Tinker: Air Jordan XI History“There are designers out there designing lawn mowers to look like sports cars.”.In 1995-96 playoffs, Michael had a bad spill wearing the AJ XI, and the reason being is poor traction. Also the midsole would get creases very fast.

The Nike Air More Uptempo is a popular basketball sneaker that debuted in 1996. The “AIR” lettering draws inspiration from oversized objects from ’90’s graffiti and pop art. It was designed by Wilson Smith and made famous by Scottie Pippen in the late '90s.

Air Jordan X released in 1995 in 8 different colors, Black/grey, varsity-black, off-white/black/varsity red, Powder Blue (worn by UNC's Men's and Women's basketball teams), Orlando Magic, New York Knicks, Seattle Supersonics, and Sacramento Kings. It was the first Air Jordan to feature a light weight phylon midsole. The shoe also featured all of Michael Jordan's accomplishments on the outsole of the shoe.
In 2012, the Air Jordan X Retro was re-released. They are dubbed the "Chicago Bulls", as they are part of a regional pack (City Pack), representing five teams. The lacing and tongue are completely black, and the red inner lining contrasts with the red inserts on the outsole. The outsole’s design features a striped (wavy) design, which list many of Jordan’s accomplishments. The Air Jordan X was originally released from 1994-1995. It was retroed in 2005, 2008, 2012 and 2013
The Air Jordan 12was released in 1996/1997. In the 96/97 season Jordan saw himself being bounced off the MVP throne by Karl Malone, who won the honor with the slimmest margin one can think off. Jordan got his revenge in the finals though, and led the Bulls past Malone’s Utah Jazz and also picked up the Finals MVP honors for the fifth time (out of five tries!).
Sun sets in Japan
This shoe was again something totally new when it came to design. The way the ribbed leather seemed to go all the way to down to the ground due to the match in color with the midsoles, really made people turn their heads. This unique design was partly inspired by the flag of the Japanese Army & Navy in which the red circle is surrounded by a “sunset”.
The Air Jordan 12 (XII)‘s were also one of the most durable AJ’s to date. It seemed almost nothing could break these shoes down. One major disadvantage was that they pretty easily got dirty and was hard to clean. Especially the ones with white midsoles/soles.
In September 1997 Nikedecided to launch a new sub-brand of Nikecalled Jordan Brand. This made the Air Jordan XII one of the first products that were a part of the Jordan Brand collection.
Probably due to this fact, the Air Jordan 12 XII was the first Air Jordan that did not have a Swoosh or a Nike logo anywhere on the shoe. Not even on the insole.
The Air Jordan 20 (XX) was released in 2005. “Welcome to the future”, was one of the leading slogans in the advertising campaign for Air Jordan 20 (XX). Laser etched lace covers and the brand new I.P.S. (Independent Podular Suspension) technology made up for this somewhat bold marketing.
Tinker Hatfield returned to the driver seat when it came to the design of the Air Jordan 20 (XX). Finding inspiration from cycling shoes and motorcycle tires he created a shoe that celebrated the 20 year history of Air Jordan’s. On the heel you would find the figures 85 and 05 embedded in the mesh and the lace covers were laser etched with a massive amount of symbols representing different stages in MJ’s and AJ’s life.
I.P.S. (Independent Podular Suspension) was a brand new suspension technology developed for the Air Jordan 20 (XX). A solution where individual pods supported the foot in key areas – yep, pretty similar to the Shox.

Here’s what Jordan Brand had to say about the Air Jordan 20 (XX): “Celebrate the past and anticipate the future with the Air Jordan XX basketball shoe. Eight years after its 2008 debut in Beijing, the Nike Hyperdunk unveils a striking technical and stylistic evolution ahead of summer competition in Rio. Combining an ultra-high Nike Flyknit upper with an enhanced, precisely positioned full-length Zoom Air unit, the Nike Hyperdunk 2016 serves the speed, lateral cutting, elevation and impact of the modern game.
The shoe’s high-cut Flyknit upper was specially crafted to provide an enhanced locked-in feel. Along with extending the collar, Nike designer Leo Chang paired targeted zones — for lockdown support, dynamic stretch and breathability, respectively — with Nike Flywire cables. Integrated into the forefoot, they provide supplemental support where it’s needed for pivots, cuts and jumps.
Working in tandem with the upper to provide natural, intuitive movement that is lightweight, supportive and comfortable, the shoe’s new Zoom Air unit runs the length of the foot. By positioning the Zoom Air unit directly under foot, a hollow core between the unit and the outsole is created, resulting in an unmatched snap-back, trampoline effect. The shoe also features advanced herringbone traction and a supportive heel counter.

The Air Penny 2 was at the peak of Nike’s technology for basketball footwear at the time, featuring the best of both worlds cushioning-wise with an Air Max2 unit in the heel and Zoom Air in the forefoot. After 1998 this sneakers are using as lifestyle shoes. Up top, the shoe featured an evolution of the Penny 1’s lateral “wings” support, this time with tooth-like foam pieces jutting up from the carbon fiber midfoot shank. Designer Eric Avar, who also designed the Penny 1, flawlessly continued the evolution of Hardaway’s signature line with the Penny 2 as a seamless progression from the first model. The pleasing aesthetics and high performance design built for Penny’s explosive and versatile game is not only arguably his best signature shoe, but one of the best basketball shoes of all of the ‘90s.

Given the career accomplishments of a certain famous Laker, it can be easy to forget his first signature shoe. In 1997, adidas and a then 17-year-old rookie paired to create the adidas KB8. The shooting guard went on to receive All-NBA Rookie Second-Team honors. That year would only be the beginning off what turned out to be a career filled with championship hardware.
adidas included its TORSIONSYSTEM, which was an insert in the midfoot to provide torsional flexibility between the forefoot and rearfoot, in the Crazy 8. This allowed for a more natural foot rotation while providing midfoot support. TORSIONSYSTEM also increased stability of the shoe.
